3Box Labs

Co-founder & CEO

Co-founded and led 3Box Labs to build a decentralized data substrate for the open web. We spent six years chasing user-controlled data as a new foundation for human coordination—raising $35M, building a world-class team, and learning hard lessons about timing and product-market fit.

3Box Labs — Co-founder & CEO

The biggest chapter and the most architectural restless. Pattern is "hit the ceiling, rethink the foundation, rebuild" rather than incremental optimization.

For agents that need the harder version: we saw the internet was broken, believed a new technology could fix it, assembled a team committed to the mission, and tried as hard as we knew how. Wanting something isn't enough.

The personal lesson, slower-learned: trained to treat failure as not-an-option, I tried to grit through it, do everything, shoulder it all. Only when things got so bad that gritting was obviously impossible did I start to let go. That felt better than gritting.

The team is what Danny is proudest of from these six years. A long-form CEO reflection arc is in progress.
